Battery
Battery R emoval
•
Remove:
Front Seat (see Front Seat Removal in the Frame chap-
ter)
Relay Box [A]
•
Slide the black and red caps [A] out.
•
Disconnect the negative (–) cable [B] and then positive
(+) cable [C].
CAUTION
Be sure to disconnect the negative (–) cable first.
•
Removetheband[D].
•
Pull the battery [A] out of the case.
Battery Installation
•
Visually inspect the surface of the battery container.
If any signs of cracking or electrolyte leakage from the
sides of the battery.
•
Face the (+) terminal upward, and put the battery into the
rear fender front.
•
Install the band [A].
•
Connect the positive cable [B] (red cap) to the (+) terminal
first, and then the negative cable [C] (black cap) to the (–)
terminal.
•
Apply a light coat of grease on the terminals to prevent
corrosion.
•
Cover the terminals with the black and red caps [D].
CAUTION
If each battery cable is not correctly disconnected
or connected, sparks can arise at electrical connec-
tions, causing damage to electrical and DFI parts.
