Rear Shock Absorber

To adjust the spring preload, turn in the adjusting nut [A]
to the desired position and tighten the locknut [B].

Usable Range:
Spring length 179 ∼ 191.5 mm (7.047
∼ 7.539 in.)

The standard adjusting nut setting for an average-build
rider of 68 kg (150 lb) with no passenger and no acces-
sories is 180 mm (7.0 in.) spring length.
•
Remove the bolts [A], chain cover [B] and left foot guard
[C] for turning the hook wrench easily.
•
To adjust the spring preload, turn in the adjusting nut to
the desired position and tighten the locknut using by hook
wrenches [A] with the rear shock absorber attached the
frame.
Special Tool - Hook Wench: 57001-1101
If the spring action feels too soft or too stiff, adjust it.

Middle Exhaust Pipe (see Middle and Rear Exhaust Pipe
Removal in the Engine Top End chapter)

Using the jack, raise the rear wheel off the ground.
