Carburetor
Idle Speed Inspection
•
Refer to the Idle Speed Inspection in the Periodic Main-
tenance chapter.
Idle Speed Adjustment
•
Refer to the Idle Speed Adjustment in the Periodic Main-
tenance chapter.
Pilot Screw Adjustment
•
Adjust the pilot screw if necessary.
•
Remove the air cleaner cover (see Frame chapter).
•
Turn the carburetor pilot screw [A] all the way in until it
seats l ightly.
Special Tool - Pilot Screw Adjuster, A: 57001-1239 [B]
CAUTION
Do not overtighten the pilot screw or the carburetor
body will be damaged and require replacement.
•
Back the pilot screw out the specified number of turns.
Carburetor Pilot Screw Setting
Standard: 2 1/4 turns out
Service Fuel Level Inspection
WARNING
Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be ex-
plosive under certain conditions. Turn the ignition
switch OFF. Do not smoke. Make sure the area is
well ventilated and free from any source of flame
or sparks; this includes any appliance with a pilot
light.
•
Park the vehicle on a level surface.
•
Remove:
Side Covers (see Frame chapter)
Throttle Link Case Cover
Carburetor Drain Hose
