Starter Circuit Relay Inspection

Remove:
Seat (see Frame chapter).
Starter Circuit Relay [A] (Brake Switch Circuit)
Starter Circuit Relay [B] (Neutral Switch Circuit)

The starter circuit relays for the brake and neutral switch
circuits are identical.
•
Connect the hand tester [A] and a 12 V battery [B] to the
starter circuit relay [C] as shown.
If the relay does not work as specified, the relay is defec-
tive. Replace the relay.
Testing Relay
Hand Tester Range: × 1 Ω
Criteria: When battery is connected ⇒ 0 Ω
When battery is disconnected ⇒
∞Ω
Relay Coil Terminals [1] and [2]
Relay Switch Terminals [3] and [4]
