Ignition System
Stick Coil (Ignition Coil together with Spark Plug Cap)
Removal
•
Remove the fuel tank (see Fuel System (DFI) chapter).
•
Remove the thermostat bracket bolt [A].
•
Disconnect:
Water Temperature Sensor Connector [B]
Left Switch Housing Connector [C]
○
If removing the stick coil #2 or #3.
•
Disconnect the stick coil connectors [A].
•
Pull the stick coil #1 [B] off the spark plug.
•
Take out the camshaft position sensor connector [C] from
the bracket ( see Camshaft Position Sensor Removal).
•
Pull the stick coil #2 [D] off the spark plug.
CAUTION
Do not pry the connector part of the coil w hile re-
moving the coil.
•
Remove the stick coil harness [A] from the bracket.
•
Remove:
Stick Coil Connector #4 [B] (disconnect)
Stick Coil #4 [C]
Stick Coil Connector #3 [D] (disconnect)
•
Pull the main harness upward and remove the stick coil
#3.
Stick Coil (Ignition Coil together with Spark Plug Cap)
Installation
•
Install t he coil using the following steps.
○
Insert the coil as shown being careful of the coil heads [A]
direction.
○
Be sure the stick coils are installed by pulling up [A] it
lightly.
○
Connect the connectors.
CAUTION
Do not tap the coil head while installing the coil.

Install the removed parts (see appropriate chapters).
