90 Installation for Local Servers Running Microsoft Windows SME v1.6 Enterprise Local Server Installation Guide
• Set your workstations to log on and restore network connections
instead of performing a quick log on.
• Optimize hard disks by defragging regularly and cleaning up
temporary files.
• Restrictive anti-virus settings may impact SuccessMaker
Enterprise performance.
Windows 2000 Server
• Apply the latest service packs and hot fixes. Make sure that the
service pack level of your server is the same as that of your
supported workstations.
• Disable the screen saver.
• Make sure that your Share and Directory permissions are set
according to the guidelines described in this guide.
• Restrictive anti-virus settings may impact SuccessMaker
Enterprise performance.
• Make sure that the network interface card on your server is set to
100 Mbps, not to auto-negotiate. Also, make sure that the duplex
setting on your switch and that on the network card are the same.
For example, if the card is set to 100 Mbps full-duplex, then the
switch port that the server’s network card is plugged into, should
also be set to 100 Mbps full-duplex.
• Check with your hardware manufacturer to make sure you have
the latest patches and bios settings for your hardware.
• Change the default registry setting which causes an inactive
connection to auto-disconnect in 15 minutes. To do this, open
regedt32 and select Hkey_Local_Machine/System/
CurrentControlSet/Services/LanmanServer/Parameters. Change
the auto-disconnect default value to 'ffffffff'. For the change to take
effect, you need to restart your server.
