SME v1.6 Enterprise Local Server Installation Guide Installation for Local Servers Running Microsoft Windows 89
Tech Notes and Tips
Optimization Tips
General
Eliminate unnecessary networking protocols - SuccessMaker
Enterprise v1.6 uses TCP/IP exclusively.
Avoid having other applications open while installing or
running SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6.
Check the latest system requirements for your server, stations,
and network requirements at our Web site
http://www.pearsondigital.com/successmaker.
Set your anti-virus software to prevent it from scanning the
SuccessMaker Enterprise database files (sme.db and sme.log).
These files are in the Resultsmanager\successmaker\database
folder. The database could get “locked” if these files are
scanned. If this happens, you may no longer be able to log in to
SuccessMaker Enterprise. You have to restart the server to
release the lock.
Windows Workstations
Make sure you have the latest service packs and hot fixes for
your operating system.
Make sure that the network interface cards are configured
properly for duplex settings and the Power Saver is turned off.
Check with the manufacturer of both the network card and the
switch to know the best settings for your implementation.
Check with hardware manufacturers of the main system and
all components installed for latest patches and updates.
Make sure the video display is set to 800x600 pixels, with the
color setting at High Color (16 bit).
Make sure the screen saver is set to wait for at least 30 minutes.
Disable power saving features for all components.
For QuickTime to work properly, set the video settings to Safe
Mode. To do this, open QuickTime Settings from your Control
Panel, select Video Settings from the list box, and select Safe
Mode.
If you experience graphic problems, set your video hardware
acceleration to None.
UNC share mappings are not supported.
