156 Updating Microsoft Windows Servers to SME v1.6 SME v1.6 Enterprise Local Server Installation Guide
Installation Overview
To update to the SuceessMaker Enterprise v1.6 program, complete the
following steps:
1. Make a back up of your existing database. See “Backing Up the
Existing Database” on page 157.
2. Stop your Sybase database service. See “Stopping the Sybase
Database Service” on page 158.
3. Stop your Macintosh LAN report service. See “Stopping the
Macintosh LAN Report Service” on page 159. (Only applicable if
you are updating a system running SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.2
or a system running SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.3 with the latest
service pack installed.)
4. Stop the Reports Web site. “Stopping the SuccessMaker Enterprise
Reports Web Site” on page 160. (Only applicable if you are
running the SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.3 system.)
5. Install the SuccessMaker update. See “Installing the SuccessMaker
Enterprise v1.6 Update” on page 161.
6. Restart your Sybase database service. See “Restarting the Sybase
Database Service” on page 163.
7. Remove the old Macintosh LAN report service. See “Removing a
Macintosh LAN Report Service” on page 163. (Only applicable if
you are updating a system running SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.2
or a system running SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.3 with the latest
service pack installed.)
8. Install a new Macintosh LAN report service. See “Installing a
Macintosh LAN Report Service” on page 164.
9. Modify user file rights. See “Modifying SuccessMaker Enterprise
User File Rights” on page 165.
10. Update SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6 client. See “Updating
Clients to SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6” on page 166.
11. Install the Math Concepts and Skills 2 course. See “Installing the
MCS 2 Courseware” on page 169.
12. Activate the Math Concepts and Skills course. See “Activating the
