Prerequisites
Before you begin the installation, ensure the following:
A hard disk drive with at least 150 MB of free space on the client
workstation.
The screen resolution is 800 x 600 pixels or above.
Install the Adobe
®
Reader
®
software version 5.0 or higher to view
the PDF documentation provided. You can download the installer
at no cost from the Adobe Web site at www.adobe.com.
Install QuickTime
®
Player version 6.5 or 7.0.3 to view lessons. You
can download it at no cost from the Apple
® Web site at
www.apple.com/quicktime/download.
Macintosh clients are connected to server running Microsoft
Windows.
Install Macintosh Runtime for Java 2.2.5 on your Macintosh
workstations if you want to run the SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6
management system in Classic mode on your Macintosh clients.
Install the Java 1.4.1 Update 1 for Mac OS X on your Macintosh
OS 10.2.8 workstations before running the Macintosh workstation
setup.
A copy of the StuffIt
®
Expander
®
software on your Macintosh
workstation to extract the Macintosh setup files on your file server.
Running the Windows Workstation Setup
To set up a Windows client on your workstation, complete the following
steps:
1. Map a network drive to the shared folder where SuccessMaker is
installed. See “Mapping a Network Drive” on page 58.
2. Install the client on your Windows workstation. See “Installing the
SuccessMaker Enterprise Client” on page 59.
3. If you want to view reports on your workstation, create an ODBC
Data Source. See “Creating an ODBC Data Source” on page 60.
4. Select the courseware media type you intend to use. See “Selecting
a Courseware Media Type” on page 61.
5. Restart your workstation to register the .dll file. See “Registering
the Crystal Reports DLL File” on page 62.
