Creating a Shared Folder for Windows
Workstations
1. From the server, log on as a user with administrative rights.
2. Create a folder called SMECourses on a drive with at least 8 GB of
free disk space.
3. Right-click the SMECourses folder, and then select Properties.
The SME Properties dialog box appears.
4. Click the Sharing tab.
5. Select the Share this folder option, and then type SMECourses in
the Share Name box.
6. Click Permissions.
7. Set up the following share permissions for the SMECourses shared
folder:
Give the Full Control permission to the SMadmin user and to
any other administrators.
Give the SMusers group Read permission. If you are not using
the SMusers group, give the Everyone group Read
permissions.
8. Click the Security tab.
9. Set up the following security permissions for the SMECourses
shared folder:
Give the Full Control permission to the SMadmin user and to
any other administrators.
Give the SMusers group Read, Read & Execute, and List
Folders permission.
10. Click Apply.
11. You have finished setting up the SMECourses shared folder for
Windows clients. If you do not have Macintosh clients, go to
“Installing the Courseware” on page 83. If you have Macintosh
clients go to the next section.
Note: Macintosh workstations are only supported with Windows 2000/2003
courseware servers.
If you do not have any Macintosh clients that run SuccessMaker Enterprise,
Go to “Installing the Courseware” on page 83. If you do have Macintosh
clients that run SuccessMaker Enterprise, go to the section relevant to the
operating system on your server.
