76 Installation for Local Servers Running Microsoft Windows SME v1.6 Enterprise Local Server Installation Guide
10. You can run the SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6 courseware from a
CD, a DVD, or from a courseware server on the network. If you
plan to use a courseware server to run courses, it is still necessary
to specify whether you will use a CD or a DVD in the event that
the courseware server becomes unavailable. Select CD or DVD,
and then click Okay.
Note: If you are running Mac OS 9.x on your workstation, you must restart
your Macintosh client before you run the SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6
management system.
You have completed the Macintosh workstation setup. If you do not use Mac
OS X workstations, you can continue with one of the following sections:
• If you are going to use a courseware server to deliver curriculum
content, go to “Installing the Courseware Server Software” on
page 77.
• If you are going to run the courseware from CD or DVD, go to
“Licensing and Verifying the Installation” on page 87.
• For further information on Macintosh workstation optimization
settings, go to “Tech Notes and Tips” on page 89.
If you are using Mac OS X workstations, Go to the next section.
Assigning Mac OS X File Permissions
To assign Mac OS X file permissions, complete the following steps:
1. Open the Terminal application from the /Applications/Utilities
folder.
2. On the command line of the Terminal window, type cd /Volumes/
VolumeName/ResultsManager (where VolumeName is the exact
name of the local hard drive where you install SuccessMaker
Enterprise v1.6).
Note:
If your local hard drive has a space in its name, then you
must put single quotation marks around the name (for
example, cd/Volumes/
’Macintosh HD’
/ResultsManager).
3. Press ENTER. This changes the directory to the location of the
shell script that sets the file permissions.
4. On the command line of the Terminal window,
type ./smechown. This shell script assigns all of the files to the
SMusers group and sets the file permissions so that group
members have sufficient access to execute all SME software
components.
