Configuring Native File Access
To configure Native File Access for Macintosh workstations, perform the
following tasks:
• “Renaming Volumes”
• “Assigning a Simple Password”
Renaming Volumes
A volume name in Novell 6.x has the following naming convention:
<Servername>.<Volumename>
Example: Pearson.SME
To change the volume name, complete the following steps:
1. Press CTRL+ESC.
2. Click Utilities, and then click Server Console.
3. Type Edit, and then press ENTER.
4. Press INSERT, click the SYS volume, and then press ENTER.
5. Open the SYS:\ETC\AFTPVOL.CFG file.
6. Scroll to the last line and type the following:
ServerName.VolumeName "Name you wish to assign to volume for
MAC clients".
where
ServerName is the name of your server
VolumeName is the name of the volume where SuccessMaker
Enterprise resides.
"Name you wish to assign to volume for MAC clients" should match
the name you choose for your Macintosh shared folder when you
install the SuccessMaker Enterprise system. Example:
Novell65.vol1 "SME".
Note:
Make a note of the name that you assign to the volume
for Macintosh clients.
7. Press ESC.
8. Click Yes to save the file.
9. Press ESC, and then click Yes to exit the file editor.
