Optimization Tips
General
• Eliminate unnecessary networking protocols - SuccessMaker
Enterprise v1.6 uses TCP/IP exclusively.
• Avoid having other applications open while installing or running
SuccessMaker Enterprise v1.6.
• Check the latest system requirements for your server, stations, and
network requirements at our Web site
http://www.pearsondigital.com/successmaker.
• Set your anti-virus software to prevent it from scanning the
SuccessMaker Enterprise database files (sme.db and sme.log).
These files are in the Resultsmanager\successmaker\database
folder. The database could get “locked” if these files are scanned. If
this happens, you may no longer be able to log in to SuccessMaker
Enterprise. You have to restart the server to release the lock.
NetWare Server
• Make sure you have the latest service packs.
• File compression for NetWare volumes is not supported.
• Download the latest TCP update to match your version of
NetWare.
• Check with manufacturers for the latest drivers and patches.
• Restrictive anti-virus settings may impact SuccessMaker
Enterprise performance.
• Make sure that the network interface card on your server is set to
100 Mbps, not to auto-negotiate. Also, make sure that the duplex
setting on your switch and that on the network card are the same.
For example, if the card is set to 100 Mbps full-duplex, then the
switch port that the server’s network card is plugged into, should
also be set to 100 Mbps full-duplex.
