Camshaft
OApply silicone sealant to the crankcase parting line and
grommet (see 4-12).
OApplya non-permanent locking agent to only one bolt
(see 4-12).
Camshaft Removal
.Remove the following.
Lower Fairings (see Frame chapter)
Pickup Coil Cover
Damper Rubber (from Rear Cam Chain Guide)
.Remove the following.
Carburetor (see Fuel System chapter)
Cylinder Head Cover (this chapter)
Spark Plug Retainer
Camshaft Chain Tensioner (this chapter)
NOTE
OBefore removing the chain tensioner, position the
crankshaft at # 1, 4 piston TDC.

2. Timing Mark (Crankcase Parting Line)
.Remove the camshaft cap bolts and take off the
camshaft caps, camshafts and upper chain guide.

.Stuff a clean cloth into the chain tunnel to keep any
parts from falling into the crankcase.
