Brush Plate and Terminal Bolt Inspection
.Using the x 1 .0 ohmmeter range, measure the resist-
ance as shown.
between terminal bolt and brush plate
between terminal bolt and ( -) brush
between terminal bolt and end cover
* If there is any reading, the brush holder assembly and/or
terminal bolt assembly have a short. Replace the brush
holder assembly and the terminal bolt assembly.
Starter Relay Inspection
.Remove the left side cover (see Frame chapter).
.Remove the starter relay.
.Connect the hand tester and 12 V battery to the starter
relay as shown.
* If the relay does not work as specified, the relay is
defective. Replace the relay.
Testing Relay
Hand Tester Range: x 1 Q range
Criteria: When battery is connected -+ o 0.
When battery is disconnected -+ 00 0.
