Spark Plug Removal
.Remove the following.
Surge Tank (see Fuel System chapter)
Spark Plug Caps
.Remove the spark plugs with the box wrench in the tool
kit (PIN: 92110-1146) or the spark plug wrench
(special tool: 57001-1262).

IC Igniter Inspection
.Remove the side cover assembly (see Frame chapter).
.Remove the ignitor connector.
.Zero an ohmmeter, and connect it to terminals of the IC
igniter to check the internal resistance of the igniter.
A. Spark Plug Wrench: 92110-1146
Spark Plug Installation Note
.Tighten the spark plugs to the specified torque
(see Exploded View).
.Run the spark plug leads correctly (see Cable Routing
section in the General Information chapter).
*Replace the IC igniter if the reading is not the specified
value.
Spark Plug Cleaning and Inspection
.Remove the spark plug, and visually inspect.
.Clean the spark plug, preferably in a sandblasting
device, and then clean off any abrasive particles. The
plug may also be cleaned using a high flash point
solvent and a wire brush or other suitable tool.
*If the spark plug electrodes are corrodes are corroded
or damaged, or if the insulator is cracked, replace the
plug. Use the standard spark plug or its equivalent.
Spark Plug Gap Inspection
.Measure the gap with a wire-type thickness gauge.
*If the gap is incorrect, carefully bend the side electrode
with a suitable tool to obtain the correct gap.
