Timing Marks
12. Remove all cover bolts (22). Using suitable pry
tools, remove the cover using the designated pry
points. Tap cover with soft face hammer to
remove. The pry points are indicated by the white
arrows in the photo below.

CAUTION:
Do not pry on casehalf sealing surfaces. Useonly
the designated pry points on the transmission.

13. Mark chain and gear rotation direction for
reassembly. Note location of chain tensioner cam.
If fully extended, chain is worn beyond service limit.
Replace chain and chain tensioner shoe.
14. Remove the cam chain tensioner spring (J). Slide
the cam chain tensioner shoe (G), pins (H), and
cam chain tensioner cam (I) from the assembly.
