3.5.2.3 Waypoint Weather Information (Optional)
The Weather information function is available if a GDL 69/69A is installed,
an XM weather subscription is current, and weather information is available
for the selected waypoint. METAR and TAF text are displayed on the Waypoint
Weather Information Page. Pressing the WX soft key will show the weather
information page. METAR data is displayed first in a decoded fashion, then as
raw text. TAF information is displayed only in its raw form.
TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast) is the standard format for 24-hour weather
forecasts. A TAF typically forecasts significant weather changes, temporary
changes, probable changes, and expected changes in weather conditions.
