INSTALLING THE PISTON AND CYLINDER
1. Install:
8oil ring expander
8oil ring rail
82nd ring
8top ring
TIP
Be sure to install the piston rings so that the
manufacturer’s marks or numbers a face up.
CHECKING THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDE (EX-
HAUST SIDE)
1. Check:
8timing chain guide (exhaust side)
Damage/wear J Replace
2. Install:
8piston 1
8piston pin 2
8piston pin clip 3
New
TIP
8 Apply engine oil the piston pin.
8 Make sure the arrow mark a on the piston
points towards the exhaust side of the cyl-
inder.
8 Before installing the piston pin clip, cover
the crankcase opening with a clean rag to
prevent the clip from falling into the crank-
case.
