REMOVING THE CYLINDER HEAD
1. Remove :
8air guide
8air shroud cylinder 3
Refer to “STARTER CLUTCH AND AC
MAGNETO”.
8V-belt case
Refer to “BELT DRIVE”.
8muffler
Refer to “REAR SHOCK ABSORBER
ASSEMBLIES AND SWINGARM” in
chapter 4.
2. Remove :
8breather/O-ring
8valve cover (intake)/O-ring
8valve cover (exhaust)/O-ring
3. Align:
8“I” mark a on the AC magneto rotor
(with the stationary pointer b on the
crankcase)
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼
a. Turn the primary fixed sheave counterclock-
wise.
b. When the piston is at TDC on the compres-
sion stroke, align the “I” mark c on the cam-
shaft sprocket with the mark d on the cyl-
inder head.

4. Remove :
8air shroud cylinder 2
8air shroud cylinder 1
5. Loosen:
8timing chain tensioner cap bolt
8camshaft sprocket bolt 1
While holding the primary fixed sheave
with a rotor holding tool 2, remove the
camshaft sprocket bolt.
