DIESEL ENGINE START AND STOP
Diesel engine start
Sit on the driver’s seat (26, Fig. D) and check that the parking brake (3) is engaged.1.
With the levers (28, 29, 30 and 35, Fig. D), adjust the seat for a comfortable position as shown in Driver’s Seat Adjustment 2.
paragraph.
Release the lever (20, Fig. E) and adjust the steering wheel position if necessary.3.
Adjust the rearview mirrors to easily see rear wheels.4.
Turn the throttle lever (2, Fig. D) to “MIN” (full backwards).5.
Turn the forward/reverse gear selector (11, Fig. D) to neutral position (centre).6.
Ensure that the hydraulic system enabling switch (31, Fig. E) is disabled (completely pressed on the upper part).7.
NOTE
The machine is equipped with a safety system that does not allow for engine start up when the switch (31, Fig. E) is
pressed.
Check that the emergency push-button (20, Fig. E) is not activated.8.
WARNING!
The emergency push-button stops and prevents the engine from starting.
Fasten the seat belts (17, Fig. D).9.
CAUTION!
For the operator’s safety, the seat belts must always be fastened.
NOTE
When turning the ignition key to ON, the display fi rst page (23, Fig. H) shows a symbol (22) that warns that the seat belts
must be fastened.
Insert the ignition key (6, Fig. D), press it, turn it clockwise and hold it in the fi rst position. The following warning lights and 10.
indicators turn on:
Diesel engine glow plug pre-heating warning light (7, Fig. E)•
Battery warning light (9, Fig. E)•
Engine oil pressure warning light (4, Fig. E)•
Parking brake warning light (3, Fig. E)•
The display (32, Fig. E) automatically shows in sequence the fi rst page and then the transport mode even if the engine is
running. To know the display options and information, see Display Functions paragraph. When the glow plug pre-heating
warning light (7, Fig. E) turns off, turn the ignition key clockwise, to the end of stroke, and then release it when the diesel
engine starts.
CAUTION!
Especially in harsh climate areas, wait a few minutes (about 2 minutes) before cranking the engine, because the
glow plugs pre-heating warning light signals the glow plug heating and the fuel heating too.
CAUTION!
Preheating times must be respected especially in harsh climate areas, to avoid excessive smoke.
CAUTION!
When starting the diesel engine, do not keep the ignition key in cranking position too long (maximum 20
seconds) to avoid damaging the starter. If the engine does not start, wait a minute before trying again.
Before trying to start the engine again, turn the ignition key counterclockwise, to the initial position.
If the engine does not start after two attempts, do not persist, ask for help from the person responsible for the
machine.
Check that, when the engine is running, all the warning lights are off and there are no alarms.11.
Let the engine run for a few minutes to allow it to warm up, especially when the air temperature is low.12.
