Emergency and assistance 7-1
JJM 18 05 16/00 Last amend: November 1999 – NAS
Introduction
Emergency roadside assistance is
provided by the Jaguar Assist system. The
system uses the vehicle’s Jaguar in-car
telephone installation to communicate
with the Jaguar security response center.
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is
used to identify the position, direction of
travel and speed of the vehicle.
The system can be used throughout the
contiguous United States, Hawaii and
Alaska, wherever cellular phone service
is available. A roaming airtime
agreement is required so that the system
can be used in all areas. The Jaguar
phone must be installed and working
correctly.
The emergency assistance feature allows
rapid access to emergency services
(police, fire, or ambulance) and roadside
assistance. Once assistance has been
requested, and the vehicle location
confirmed, the appropriate services are
contacted for assistance to be
despatched.
The benefits of the system are: ease of
activation, no requirement of knowing
who to call, emergency assistance call
sent automatically in the event of airbag
deployment, and location identification.
Emergency assistance
Emergency assistance can be used in the
following situations:
• If you have been involved in an
accident.
• Airbag deployment (emergency
assistance call sent automatically).
• To report a crime or fire.
• When urgent medical attention is
required.
• To receive mechanical breakdown
assistance.
When the call is initiated, the response
center passes details of the emergency
and vehicle location to the appropriate
services.
Emergency help will be despatched to
your location and the operator will,
when appropriate, stay in direct contact
with you until the emergency help
arrives.
Note: If you are certain of your
location, a phone call to 911 or other
emergency service may provide a
faster response.
