JJM 18 05 16/00 Last amend: November 1999 – NAS
Setting destinations across map coverage areas
!
WARNING:
When changing map CDs, find a safe
place to pull over. Each map CD has
an area of overlap with the adjoining
areas, to provide a smooth transition
between coverage areas during a
journey.
Road coverage
Outside the main coverage area of each
map CD, the adjoining major road
network only will be shown (at high
zoom levels). Destination setting will be
possible, but not to an exact location. If a
destination has been set, the route will
be highlighted but there will be no voice
guidance.
If a route is required starting in one map
CD area and finishing in another, this
can be achieved by changing the map CD
as required. A route may also be set
which crosses intermediate map CD
areas between the starting and finishing
areas. For more information, see
High
level road areas
on page 6-2.
Setting a destination
To set a destination where the route
crosses one or more map CD
boundaries, follow the procedure below.
Insert the map CD covering the
destination.
Enter the destination by the method
required.
Insert the map CD covering the start
of the route.
Start the journey.
Insert any intermediate map CDs (as
each area boundary is reached) and
continue the journey.
Insert the final map CD before
reaching the destination.
Note:
1. This procedure will provide
detailed route guidance
throughout the journey. If route
guidance is not required for
certain parts of the journey, for
example while travelling for long
distances on freeways, some map
CD changes may be omitted.
2. Outside the coverage area of a
map CD, the screen will show
‘Out of Coverage Area’ in a yellow
text box, and the destination
information box will show ‘Route
Only’.
3. Each time the map CD is changed,
the route is recalculated and the
screen shows ‘Searching’.
