10.4 Simple Troubleshooting
This section provides simple troubleshooting procedures which the user can
follow to restore normal operation. If you cannot restore normal operation do not
attempt to check inside the unit. Any trouble should be referred to a qualified
technician.
General troubleshooting
If … Then …
check for blown fuse.
check that the power connector is firmly
fastened.
check for damaged power cable.
check battery for proper voltage output.
you cannot turn on the power
press the [POWER/BRILL] key a little harder.
no picture appears
press the [POWER/BRILL] key and then rotate
the [ENTER] knob.
there is no response when a
key is pressed
turn off and on the power.
the picture goes off suddenly*
press the [POWER/BRILL] key to turn the power
on.
*: When turning off and on again the breaker, press the [POWER/BRILL] key to
power on the equipment.
Plotter troubleshooting
If … Then …
check that antenna connector is firmly
fastened.
position is not fixed within 90 seconds
check number of satellites received, on
the GPS STATUS display.
position is wrong
enter position offset, on the
ADVANCED menu.
check that On is selected at TRACK in
the PLOTTER menu.
the track is not plotted
check that On is selected at VISIBLE in
the PLOTTER menu.
bearing is wrong check the VARIATION in the
ADVANCED menu.
the ship’s speed indication is not zero
after the ship is stopped
try to decrease SPEED FILTER in the
ADVANCED menu.
