Chapter 5 Combining and Using Pioneer AV Equipment
Fast reverse may not be possible at certain
locations on some discs. If this happens, nor-
mal playback automatically resumes.
Stopping Playback
1 Press 77

(STOP) button.
When you stop DVD or Video CD playback
(during PBC playback only) by pressing the
7 (STOP) button, that location on the
disc is memorized enabling playback from
that point when you play the disc again.
Still, Frame-by-Frame and Slow
Motion Playback
Still Playback
This lets you pause playback and view a still pic-
ture.
1 Move the control stick up during play-
back.
To return to normal playback, move the
control stick up once more.
Frame-by-Frame Playback
This lets you move ahead one frame at a time dur-
ing playback.
1 Press the EE
EE
(GUIDE) button.
Each time you press the
EE
EE
(GUIDE) button,
you move ahead one frame.
To return to normal playback, move the
control stick up.
Slow Motion Playback
This lets you slow down playback speed.
1 Press the EE
EE
(GUIDE) button for 1 second
during playback.
To return to normal playback, move the con-
trol stick up.
There is no sound during Still, Frame-by-
Frame or Slow Motion playback.
Depending on the disc and the playback loca-
tion on the disc, the prohibited mark “
may be displayed indicating that Still, Frame-
by-Frame and Slow Motion playback are not
possible.
With some discs, images may be unclear dur-
ing Frame-by-Frame and Slow Motion play-
back.
When connecting XDV-P9 or XDV-P90
Reverse Frame-by-Frame playback and Reverse
Slow Motion playback are possible by the e
(CANCEL ROUTE) button.
You can control playback speed by pressing
the e (CANCEL ROUTE) button during
slow motion playback.
Operating using Information
Display 1
Specify Title, Chapter or Time to search for a
desired scene and play it back.
1 Push the joystick left/right to select Title
or Chapter (or Track) in Information Dis-
play 1.
The selected item is highlighted.
2 Push the joystick up/down to indicate the
desired number.
3 Press the joystick directly down to com-
plete selection.
You can also specify a Title, Chapter or Time
directly without using an Information Display.
(Refer to page 74).
With discs that feature menus, you can press
the MENU button to select for display of
menu indications.
Some discs may feature a prohibited mark,
indicating that display of Title and Chapter
indications is not possible.
You cannot specify a Chapter when in the
Stop mode.
If you perform no operation for about eight
seconds, the specified number becomes
invalid.
