The iWAY's Point-to-Point mode uses straight-line navigation, the origi-
nal method used by the Global Positioning System. This function is
handy when you want to find a map feature, waypoint or point of interest
on a lake, in coastal waters or in off-road areas where turn-by-turn won't
work. Point-to-Point mode does not include audible voice directions.
Switch Between Navigation Modes
To change to Point-to-Point mode, press the MENU key, then select MENU
3 and press the NAVIGATION MODE button to display the Navigation Mode
screen.
Select the Navigation Mode button in Menu 3 to access the Navigation
Mode screen. The Navigation Mode screen allows you to switch be-
tween the unit's two different navigation modes.
Turn-by-Turn (car image) is selected as the default setting. Choose
Point-to-Point (A to B image), and a warning message appears asking if
you are sure you want to change modes. Choose
YES and close the Navi-
gation Mode screen.
NOTE:
When you switch to line navigation, there is no need to change set-
tings in the Map Data pull-down menu unless you are using nauti-
cal charts or lake contours. Select NauticPath map data when you
want to use coastal charts. Select Standard (MapCreate) map data
when you want to see enhanced underwater detail for select lakes.
Switching back to Point-to-Point mode will automatically select
Turn-by-Turn Map Data.
WARNING:
When displaying straight-line navigation data to a posi-
tion (waypoint) a GPS unit will show the shortest, most
direct path. The unit provides navigation data to the
waypoint regardless of obstructions.
