BASIC OPERATION
This section explains the various functions of your MAP 410 and is
organized in order of usage and are accompanied by screen representations
and keystroke diagrams.
Power Up Sequence
Your receiver is powered on by pressing the POWER/
LIGHT key and then the ENTER key within 15 seconds
after the WARNING screen is displayed. On power up, the
MAP 410 will display the MAGELLAN LOGO/START UP
screen, the WARNING/COPYRIGHT screen and then you
will press ENTER to switch to the STATUS screen. The
receiver begins searching the sky for satellites and begins
the process of computing a position fix.
NAV Screens
There are nine NAV (navigation) screens which provide you with necessary
information you will need to use the MAP 410 as a navigational tool. The
screens are: SAT STATUS, POSITION, NAV1, COMPASS, NAV2, MAP,
ROAD, SPEED and TIME.
NAV screens are viewed by pressing the NAV key from any screen. You can
scroll through the NAV screens by repeatedly pressing the NAV key. You
can also scroll through the screens in the opposite direction with the QUIT
key.
All screens, except the SAT STATUS and POSITION screens, can be disabled
by turning them OFF in the NAV SCREENS section of Setup.
THE SAT STATUS SCREEN
The SAT STATUS screen will be the first screen displayed, after the
COPYRIGHT screen, once the unit is turned on. This screen shows you the
general well-being of your MAP 410 by showing you satellite status, signal
strengths, battery life and temperature.
