• Shorter Distance: this setting causes distance to be used as the criteria for calculating your route. The
routes calculated with this setting is shorter in distance but may take more time to drive.
• Off Road: this setting causes your route to be a direct line from you to your destination. This may be
useful outside of detailed map coverage areas.
Ask Me My Preference
– Determines whether you are prompted to change your current Route Preference
(‘Faster Time’, ‘Shorter Distance’, or ‘Off Road’) before route calculations. This setting can also be changed
from Yes to No from the Route Preference page. The following options are available:
• Yes: this setting results in the Route Preference page being displayed before route calculations. This
setting is recommended if you frequently have a different preference for your routes.
• No: this setting skips the Route Preference page before route calculations. The StreetPilot 2610/2650
uses your current Route Preference for all route calculations. This setting is recommended if you usu-
ally have the same preference for your routes.
Calculation Method – Allows you to control how thoroughly the StreetPilot 2610/2650 searches for the
perfect route. There is a trade-off here between the length of time it takes to fi nd a route and the quality
of that route (i.e., given the calculation criterion selected under ‘Route Preference’ settings). The following
options are available:
• Quickest Calculation: this gives you the fastest results, but the least optimal route.
• Quick Calculation: takes a bit more time to calculate than the ‘Quickest Calculation’ method, but
produces a better quality route.
• Better Route: even better quality route, but longer calculation time than the ‘Quick Calculation’
method.
• Best Route: this gives the most optimal route, but takes the longest time to calculate.
The ‘Off Road’ option is useful if you stop some-
where on your trip where there are no roads (scenic
area, etc.) and you still want to navigate (via a
straight line) using the StreetPilot 2610/2650.
System Setup
The ‘Ask Me My Preference’ setting can also be
changed from the Routing File tab.
