TheUsingAuto/UsingManualbuttonisconnectedtothePredictedSpeedvaluesthatare
displayedbelowit.WhenitishighlightedpresstheSelectbutton totogglebetweenmanual
andautomaticcalculationofthePredictedSpeed.ThedefaultisUsingAuto.
TheClearNav
alwaysautomaticallycalculatesPredictedSpeedusingyourclimbandglideperformancetothis
pointandtakingintoaccountthefinalglideportionoftheflightduringwhichtheaverage
speedwillincreasebecauseyouwon’tbestoppingtothermal.Theautomaticallycalculated
speedisalwaysdisplayedonthefarrightedgeofthescreen.Themanuallyenterednumberis
displayedinaneditboxtotheleftoftheautomaticallycalculatednumber.InUsingAutomode
thecalculatedspeedisautomaticallybumpedintothe“manual”speedposition.WheninUsing
Manualmodethecalculatedspeedcanbeusedasareferenceandyoucanmanuallysetthe
PredictedSpeed.MostpilotswillprobablyusetheUsingAutomodemostofthetime.Agood
exampleofwhenitmakessensetomanuallyenterthepredictedspeediswhenyouknowthat
youwillbeflyingmuchfasterorslowerfortheremainderofthetaskduetochangesinthe
weatherortypeofsoaringflight–suchasacloudstreetorisolatedstormupaheadora
transitiontoridgerunningorwaveflight.WhenitUsingAutomode,manuallyeditingthe
PredictedSpeedwillchangethemodetoUsingManualmode.
