AUSBFlashDriveisusedto:
• Transferwaypoint,airspaceandotherdatafilestotheClearNav
• DownloadflightlogsfromtheClearNav
• UploadfirmwareupgradestotheClearNav
USBFlashDrivesarewonderfulbecausetheyaresimpletouseandmakeiteasytotransferlarge
amountsofdata.Whenyouplugoneintoyourhomecomputeritlookslikeaharddrivethatyoucan
transferfilestoandfromusingtheWindowsExplorer(MyComputer)programthatisincludedwith
Windows.
TheClearNavshipswithaUSBFlashDriveintheboxwithfoldersandfilesinstalledatthefactory.If
youprefertobuyanadditionalUSBFlashDriveyoucanfindoneatanylocalcomputerstoreorTarget,
BestBuy,RadioShack,etc.A1GBmemorystickwithwassuppliedwiththefirstbatchofClearNav
unitsanditseemstohaveplentyofmemory.A2GBFlashDrivewouldholdallthemaps,airspace,
elevationdata,etc.fortheentireworld.Atthetimeofthiswriting$20wouldgetmea4GBFlash
DriveonAmazon.com.Itdoesn’thurttogetonethatislargerthan1GB.Werecommendgettingone
inthe2to4GBrange,butlargerisfine.

AttheendoftheflyingdayyousimplyplugtheUSBFlashDriveintotheClearNav’spanelmounted
USBconnectorandusetheClearNav’sPersonalPreferences/FlightRecordermenutoselectand
transferthedesiredflightlogsfromtheClearNav’smemorytotheUSBFlashDrive.

Whenyouwanttotransferwaypoint,airspaceorsoftwareorfirmwareupgradefilestotheClearNav
yousimplypower‐downtheClearNav,plugtheUSBFlashDriveintothe
ClearNav’spanelmountedUSB
connector,andpower‐uptheClearNav.TheClearNavautomaticallytransfersthefilesfromtheUSB
FlashDrivetotheClearNav’sinternalmemory.
