MOUNTING THE COMPONENTS
1. Mounting The Siren Control Module
Selecta flat,metalsurface withintheengine compartment,butnot on
theengine,forthesirencontrolmodule.Keepinmindthatthehornend
mustbe facingdownto preventwaterfrom enteringthemodule.
Alocationonthefirewall,whichisnoteasilyaccessiblefromunderneath
thevehicle,ispreferred. Thislocationwillprovideoptimumoperationof
theshocksensor,andpreventthepotentialthieffromdisconnectingthe
alarmfrom belowthevehicle.
You should also locate the control module away from hot or moving
components within the engine compartment, and avoid areas where
water willrunoff orcollectduring heavyrainstorms.
To mount the siren controlmodule;
A.Secure themodule mountingbrackettothe selectedlocation using
the(2)3/4"longscrewsprovided.Carefullydrilla1/8"diameterpilot
hole forstarting thescrews.
B. In most cases, if the bracket has been secured to a solid metal
surface,youcanconnecttheBLACK wirefromthewiring harnessto
thesirenmountingbolt.Usinga10mmwrenchorsocket,securethe
sirenmodule( andeyelet terminalontheendoftheBLACK wire)to
the bracket usingthe (2) 3/8" longhex head bolts and(2) split lock
washersprovided.
2. Mounting the Hood and Trunk Pin Switches
Twopinswitchesare providedtoprotect thehoodand trunklids ofthe
vehicle,andshouldbeusedonanyhoodor trunklidthatdoesnotturn
a courtesy light on. The switches must always be mounted into a
groundedmetalpartofthevehicle,astheysimplywillnotoperatewhen
mountedinto plasticorfiberglass.
Themountingsurfacemustbeataheightthatwillcausetheplungerto
depress1/4 “when thehoodor trunklidis closed.
IMPORTANT!Sincethepinswitchisdesignedtobedepressedwhen
thehood/ trunklidisclosedonto it,a dimplecanoccuronthe exterior
paintsurfaceiftheswitchismountedwhereitwillcontactasinglemetal
thicknessareaofthehood/trunklid.Alwaysmountthepinswitchwhere
it willcontacta doublewallarea ofthe hood/trunk lid.
When choosing the pin switch mounting location, it is important to
position theswitch and/orbracket wherewater cannotcollect orflow.
Avoidalldrip“gutters“onhood/ trunkfenders.Lookforlocationsthat
are sealed with rubber gaskets when the hood / trunk lid is closed.
Excessivewateronthesepartswillcausecorrosion,resultinginaloss
ofprotectiontothehood/trunklids.Also,anyholesmadetomountthe
switches willrustwhen wateris allowedtopenetrate. Thereare three
differentmountingmethods available.Theyare;
1. Directmounting into atrunk lip, radiatorcross brace, etc.
A.Drilla1/4“diameterholeintotheselectedmountingsurface.Besure
thereis adequateclearancebehind thesurfaceforthe pinswitch.
B.Threadthepinswitchintotheholeusinga7/16“wrenchordeepwell
socket.
2. Mounting using the rightangled bracket
A.Securethebrackettothedesiredmountingsurfaceusing(2)sheet
metal screws.
B. Screwthe pinswitch intothe bracket.
NOTE: Theheightof thepinswitch canbeadjustedby looseningthe
screwsand slidingthebracket upordown.
3. Mounting using theflat bracket.
A. Securethebracket tothe mountingsurfaceusing(2)sheetmetal
screws.
B. Screwthe pinswitch intothe bracket.
NOTE :This bracket canbe bent toaccommodate specificmounting
requirements.
