9. Replacing the Transmitter Battery
Thekeychain transmittershaveasmall,red L.E.D.visiblethroughthe
topcover.ThisL.E.D.canbeusedtoindicatebatterycondition.Youwill
also notice a decrease in effective transmitter range as the battery
deteriorates.
Thereplacement batterymustbe a12volt typeGP23Aor equivalent.
Toreplace thetransmitter battery;
A. Remove the small phillips head screw from the bottom of the
transmitter,andcarefullyprythetopcover(buttonside)awayfrom
the transmitter.
B.Removethedischargedbattery,makingnoteoftheorientationofthe
+ and-contacts, anddisposeof properly.
C.Installthenewbattery,takingcaretoplacethe+and-contactsinthe
correctposition.
D.Replacethetransmittercover,takingcarenottodamagetheL.E.D.
or switchesonthe circuitboard.
E. Replace the small phillips head screw through the bottom of the
transmitter.
TROUBLESHOOTING :
Symptom:Thesirendoesnot chirpwhentheharness isfirstplugged
in.
Check:
A.Verifythatthefuseintheredwirefromthesirencontrol
moduleis ingoodcondition. Replaceitif itisblown.
B.Verifythattheconnectionsoftheredandblackwires
havebeenmadeaccordingtothewiringsectionofthis
manual.
Symptom : The transmitters will not program to the siren control
module.
Check:
A.Youhaveonly15secondsafterapplyingpowertothe
sirencontrolmoduleinwhichtoprogrambothtransmit-
ters.
Symptom : The alarm will not arm and disarm using the keychain
transmitter.
Check:
A.Verifythetransmitterbatteryisingood condition.Try
both transmitters. Replace the transmitter battery if
necessary.
B.Verifythatthetransmitter isprogrammedto thesiren
controlmodule.When thevehicle’s batteryis discon-
nected, or when power is removed from the siren
control module, the transmitters need to be re -
programmed.Followtheprogramminginstructionsin
thismanual.
C.Verifythatthefuseintheredwirefromthesirencontrol
moduleis ingoodcondition. Replaceitif itisblown.
D.Verifythattheconnectionsoftheredandblackwires
havebeenmadeaccordingtothewiringsectionofthis
manual.
Symptom:Thealarmwillnotsoundwhenopeningthehoodortrunklid
wherea pinswitchwasadded.
Check:
A. Verifythe pin switchis set tothe properheight. The
plungeroftheswitchmustdepress1/4“whenthehood
or trunklidis closed.
B.Youmustwaitapproximately10secondsafterarming
before thepinswitch circuitis activated.
C.Verify thatthepin switchand/orpinswitch bracketis
mountedto agroundedmetal surfaceofthe vehicle.
Symptom:Thealarmwillnotsoundwhenopeningadoorthatturnsa
courtesylight on.
Check:
A. Verify that the light selector switch is in the door
position.
B.Verifythatthedomelightbulbturnson.Thealarmwill
onlysoundifthebulbturnson.Replacethebulbifitis
notturning on.
C. There is a 3 minute delay after arming, before the
courtesylightsensingcircuitofthealarmisenergized.
Make surethatthe full3minutes haselapsed.
Symptom :The bypassswitchwill notdisarm thealarm.
Check:
A. The ignition key must be turned to the on position
before activatingtheswitch.
B.VerifytheconnectionstotheGRAYwire,BLACKwire
from the switch, and WHITE wire from the main
harness.Repair theconnectionsif necessary.
