MAINTENANCE
Angle Drive Fluid
This fluid level does not require routine inspection. If you suspect a fluid leak, inspect the
fluid level.
Always change the angle drive fluid at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance
Chart beginning on page 51. Always use SLINGSHOT Angle Drive Fluid or another SAE
80W-90 fluid for the angle drive. See page 86 for the part numbers of recommended service
products.
The fill plug is located on the left side of the angle drive housing. The drain plug is located
on the right side of the housing.
Fluid Level Check
1. Elevate the vehicle using appropriate jack
stands. Make sure the elevated vehicle is
level.
2. Remove the fill plug. If the fluid level is
not at the bottom edge of the fill hole, add
the recommended fluid to bring the level
to the bottom edge of the fill hole.
NOTE: Use a syringe to add the fluid. If a syringe is
not available, remove the battery and use a
funnel and tube to add the fluid.
3. Reinstall the fill plug.
Torque: 10-14 ft-lbs (14-19 Nm)
4. See your dealer for service. A low fluid
level indicates a fluid leak.
Fluid Change
1. Elevate the vehicle using appropriate jack
stands. Make sure the elevated vehicle is
level.
2. Remove the fill plug.
3. Place a drain pan under the drain plug.
4. Remove the drain plug. Allow the fluid to drain completely.
5. Clean and reinstall the drain plug. Torque to specification.
Torque: 10-14 ft-lbs (14-19 Nm)
NOTE: Use a syringe to add the fluid. If a syringe is not available, remove the battery and use a funnel
and tube to add the fluid.
6. Add the recommended fluid. Do not overfill. Maintain the fluid level at the bottom edge
of the fill hole.
Capacity: 23.7 oz (700 ml)
7. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification.
Torque: 10-14 ft-lbs (14-19 Nm)
8. Check for leaks. Dispose of used fluid properly.
