CHAPTER 8: USING BLUETOOTH
What is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology. Bluetooth uses radio signals to send and receive information
quickly and securely from many different types of devices: computers, phones, printers, or any other device that uses Bluetooth
technology. Using Bluetooth, you can synchronize your iQue M5 with your personal computer, exchange or print files, connect to a
network, browse the Internet, or listen to music on a Bluetooth headset. To communicate, Bluetooth devices do not have to be in the
same room, but they must be within 30 feet (10 meters) of each other.
About BTExplorer
BTExplorer is the software on your iQue M5 that helps you connect to other Bluetooth devices. BTExplorer has two modes: Wizard
mode (the default setting) and Standard mode. Both modes allow you to create and maintain connections with other Bluetooth
devices, but Wizard mode is designed to simplify this process.
Using either mode, you can view and connect to “services” on other Bluetooth devices. (A service is a type of Bluetooth connection,
like a serial port connection or a network connection.) After you create a connection, you can save it as a Favorite, much like you
would save favorites in your Web browser. Then you can use your Favorites to connect to devices quickly and easily.
NOTE: You can only connect to other Bluetooth devices that offer services compatible with your iQue M5. If a Bluetooth
devices does not offer a service that your iQue M5 can connect to, the devices will not connect to each other.
Enabling Bluetooth
Before you can use Bluetooth, you must turn on the Bluetooth transmitter. You can do this easily from the Bluetooth icon on the
Today screen.
To enable Bluetooth:
1. Tap and hold on the Bluetooth icon at the bottom right of the screen. A menu appears.
2. Tap
Enable Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon changes from to and the blue LED light at the top of your iQue M5 begins to blink.
Tap Enable Bluetooth on the menu that appears.
To open BTExplorer:
1. Tap the Bluetooth icon .
2. Tap Show BTExplorer.
NOTE: When you open BTExplorer, you also automatically enable Bluetooth.
