MAINTENANCE
PVT System
WARNING
Failure to comply with the instructions in this warning can result in
severe injury or death.
Do not modify any component of the PVT system. Doing so may
reduce its s trength s o that a failure may occur at a high speed.
The PVT system has been precisio n balanced. Any modification
will cause the system to be out of balance, creating vibration and
additional loads on components.
The PVT system rotates at high speeds, creating large amount s
of force on clutch components. Extensive engineer ing and
testing has been conducted to ensure the safety of this pr oduct.
However , as the owner, you hav e the following responsibilities t o
make sure this system remains safe:
Always follow all recommended maintenance procedures. S ee
your dealer as outlined in the owner’s manual.
This PVT system is intended for use on Polaris products only. Do
not ins tall it i n any other pr oduct.
Always make sure the PVT housing is securely i n place during
operation.
PVT Drying
There m ay be s ome instances when water is accidently i ngested into
the PVT system. Use the following instructions to dry it out before
operating:
1. Remove the drain plug and allow the water to drain. Replace the
drain plug.
2. Start the engine and shift the transmission into neutral. Apply
varying throttle for 10-15 seconds to expel the moisture and air-dry
the belt and clutches. Do not hold the throttle wide open for more
than 10 seconds.
3. Allow the engine RPM to settle to idle speed, then shift the
transmission to the lowest available range.
4. Test for belt slippage. If the belt slips, repeat the process.
5. Take the vehicle to your dealer for service as soon as possible.
