OPERATION
Starting the Engine
8. Turn the ignition l ever past the ON position to engage the starter.
Activate the starter for a maximum of five seconds, releasing the
lever when the vehicle starts.
9. If the engine does not start, return the ignition lever to the OFF
position and wait five seconds. Activate the starter for another five
seconds i f necessary. Repeat this procedure until the engine starts.
NOTE: If a warm engine has cooled to a point where it does not
readily s tart, intermittent use of the choke button (pulled half
way out) may be necessary. If the engine is over-choked
when warm, depress the throttle lever fully while c ranking to
aid in starting. Release the t hrottle lever immediately a fter
the engine starts. If the engine does not start and all
conditions are favorable, c hange the spark p lug and try
again.
10. If the engine slows or stops, position the choke knob half way in to
allow proper engine warm-up. Vary the engine RPM slightly with
the throttle to aid in warm-up. When the engine idles smoothly,
push the choke completely in.
CAUTION
Operating the vehicle immediately after starting could cause
engine damage. Allow the engine to warm up for several minutes
before operating t he vehicle.
Cold Weather Operation
If the ATV is used year-round, check the oil level frequently. A rising
oil level could i ndicate the accumulation o f contaminants such as water
or ex cess fuel in the crankcase. Water i n the crankcase can lead to
engine d amage and m ust be drained. Water accumulation increases as
outside temperature decreases.
