8.6 Connection Problems
Synchronization Problems
Make sure that no other connection is being used. Tap the icon on the
navigation bar and then tap
Disconnect.
In some specific cases, A701 may experience connection problems when it
is connected to a Windows computer running ActiveSync 4.0. The
problems may be caused by the interoperability with desktop firewall
applications, applications that manage network traffic, or LAN
configuration tools. To resolve the problems, please visit Microsoft web site
at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync, or disable
the LAN configuration tools.
Make sure that you have installed the correct version of ActiveSync on your
desktop computer. Install the version ActiveSync included with your A701.
You can also check the version of the operating system by tapping
Settings System About Version. For example, the version information
mayu display “Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ Version 5.0 OS 5.1.70
(Build 14406.1.1.1).” Check the first number after “14406” (your A701
may not display the same number). If the number is “1,” you can use
ActiveSync 4.0; if the number is “2,” then you need to use ActiveSync 4.1.
Cable Connection Problems
Make sure that your A701 and your desktop computer are both turned on
before establishing the connection.
Make sure that the cable is securely plugged into the USB port on your
desktop computer.
