Locking and unlocking
Checking batteries in the SmartKey or
SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO
̈ Press button ‹ or Œ.
The battery check lamp (
୴ page 304)
(
୴ page 306) comes on briefly to indi-
cate that the SmartKey or SmartKey
with KEYLESS-GO batteries are in or-
der.
Loss of the SmartKey or SmartKey with
KEYLESS-GO
If you lose your SmartKey, SmartKey with
KEYLESS-GO or mechanical key, you
should do the following:
̈ Have the SmartKey or SmartKey with
KEYLESS-GO deactivated by an autho-
rized Mercedes-Benz Center.
̈ Report the loss of the SmartKey,
SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO or the me-
chanical key immediately to your car
insurance company.
̈ Have the mechanical lock replaced if
necessary.
Your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center
will be glad to supply you with a replace-
ment.

You can also lock the vehicle using the out-
side door handle (
୴ page 309) or, vehicles with
trunk opening/closing system*, KEYLESS-GO
locking/closing switch (
୴ page 440).

If you cannot lock or unlock the vehicle with
the SmartKey or SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO,
then either the batteries in the SmartKey or
SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO are discharged, the
SmartKey or SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO is mal-
functioning or the vehicle batteries are drained.
ț Check the batteries in the SmartKey or
SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO and replace it
them necessary (
୴ page 619).
ț Use the mechanical key to unlock the driv-
er’s door (
୴ page 614) and trunk
(
୴ page 615).
ț Have the vehicle batteries and their connec-
tions checked (
୴ page 634).
If the SmartKey or SmartKey with KEYLESS-GO
is malfunctioning, contact an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center.

If the battery check lamp does not come on
briefly during check, the SmartKey or SmartKey
with KEYLESS-GO batteries are discharged.
Replace the batteries (
୴ page 619).
You can obtain the required batteries at any au-
thorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

If the batteries are checked within signal
range of the vehicle, pressing button ‹ or
Œ will lock or unlock the vehicle accordingly.
