Troubleshooting
If you have problems operating your navigation system, refer to this section. The most common
problems are listed below, along with likely causes and solutions. While this list is not comprehen-
sive, it should answer your most common problems. If a solution to your problem cannot be
found here, contact your dealer or the nearest authorized Pioneer service facility.
Problems with the navigation screen

The powerdoesnt turn on.The
navigation system doesnt oper-
ate.
Leads andconnectors areincor-
rectly connected.
Confirm oncemore that allconnections are
correct.
The fuseis blown. Rectify thereason for the fuse blowing,then
replace thefuse. Be very sure toinstall a cor-
rect fusewith the same rate.
Noise andother factors arecausing
the built-inmicroprocessor tooper-
ate incorrectly.

You cannot position your vehicle
on themap without asignificant
positioning error.
The quality ofsignals from the GPS
satellites ispoor, causing reduced
positioning accuracy. Sucha loss of
signal quality mayoccur for the fol-
lowing reasons:
TheGPS antenna isin an unsuita-
ble location.
Obstaclesare blocking signals
from thesatellites.
Theposition of satellites relativeto
your vehicle is inadequate.
Signalsfrom the GPS satellites
have beenmodified toreduce accu-
racy. (GPSsatellites areoperated by
the USDepartment ofDefense, and
the USgovernment reserves the
right todistort positioning data for
military reasons. This maylead to
greater positioning errors.)
Ifa vehicle phoneor cellular
phone isused near the GPSanten-
na, GPSreception maybe lost tem-
porarily.
Check the GPSsignal reception andthe posi-
tion of the GPSantenna if necessary,or con-
tinue drivinguntil receptionimproves. Keep
the antenna clear.
Something covers theGPS antenna. Do notcover the GPSantenna with spray
paint or vehicle wax,because this mayblock
the receptionof GPS signals. Snowbuildup
can alsodegrade the signals.
Signals from the vehiclesspeed
pulse arenot being pickedup prop-
erly. (This informationis intended

Check thatthe cables areproperly connected.
If necessary,consu lt the dealerthat installed
the system.
