Unlocking/locking in an emergency
Manually unlocking the gear selector
lever
In case of power failure, the gear selector
lever can be manually unlocked, e.g. to tow
the vehicle.
Center armrest design A
̈ Open the storage compartment under
the center armrest (
୴ page 271).
̈ Take out storage box 1.
̈ Insert a tool 2 (e.g. flat blade screw-
driver) into the opening.
̈ Perform the following two steps simul-
taneously:
̈ Push tool 2 forward in the direc-
tion of the arrow.
̈ Move gear selector lever from
position P.
̈ Reinstall the storage box 1 after re-
moving the tool 2 from the opening.
Center armrest design B
̈ Pull the tab 1 of the covering back in
direction of the center armrest com-
partment.
̈ Insert a tool 2 (e.g. flat blade screw-
driver) into the opening.
̈ Perform the following two steps simul-
taneously:
̈ Push tool 2 down- and forward in
the direction of the arrow.
̈ Move gear selector lever from
position P.
̈ Remove the tool 2 from the opening.
̈ Push the tab 1 of the covering back.

The gear selector lever is locked again
when moving it to position P.
