Checking the riding sag of the shock absorber
ದ Measure distanceb of rear wheel unloaded. ( P. 34)
ದ With another person holding the motorcycle, sit on the saddle with full protective
clothing in a normal sitting position (feet on footrests) and bounce up and down a
few times until the rear suspension levels out.
ದ The other person now has to measure the distance between the rear axle and a
ದ Make a note of the value as measurementb
The riding sag is the difference between measurementsb andb.
ದ Check the riding sag.
Riding sag 105bmm (4.13bin)
» If the riding sag differs from the specified measurement:
ದ Adjust the riding sag. ( P. 36)
Adjusting spring preload of the shock absorberbx
Danger of accidentsಘThe shock absorber is under high pressure.
ದ The shock absorber is filled with highly compressed nitrogen, so never dismantle the shock absorber or carry out any main-
tenance on it yourself.
Before changing the spring preload, make a note of the present setting, e.g., by measuring the length of the spring.
ದ Remove shock absorber. ( P. 36)
ದ After removing the shock absorber, clean it thoroughly.
ದ Loosen screwb.
ದ Turn adjusting ringb
until the spring is no longer under tension.
Combination wrench (50329080000)
Hook wrench (T106S)
ದ Measure the overall spring length when not under tension.
ದ Tighten the spring by turning adjusting ringb
Depending on the static sag and/or the riding sag, it may be necessary to
increase or decrease the spring preload.
ದ Tighten screwb
