Checking free play of foot brake lever
Warning
Danger of accidentsBrake system failure.
If there is no free travel on the foot brake pedal, pressure builds up on the rear brake in the brake system. The rear brake
can fail due to overheating. Adjust free travel on foot brake pedal according to specifications.

Disconnect spring.
Move the foot brake lever backwards and forwards between the end stop and the
foot brake cylinder piston bracket and check free play
.
Specification
Free play at foot brake lever 3… 5mm (0.12… 0.2in)
» If the free travel does not meet specifications:
Adjust the basic position of the footbrake lever. ( P. 43)
Reconnect spring

Disconnect spring.
Loosen nut
and with push rod, turn it back until you have maximum free play.
To adjust the basic position of the footbrake lever individually, lossen nut
and
turn screw
accordingly.

The range of adjustment is limited.
Turn push rod
accordingly until you have free play. If necessary, adjust the
basic position of the footbrake lever.
Specification
Free play at foot brake lever 3… 5mm (0.12… 0.2in)
Hold screw
and tighten nut.
Specification
Remaining nuts, chassis M8 30Nm

Hold push rod
and tighten nut.
Specification
Remaining nuts, chassis M6 15Nm
(11.06lbfft)
Reconnect spring

Checking the rear brake fluid level
Warning
Danger of accidentsBrake system failure.
If the brake fluid level falls below the MIN mark, this indicates a leakage in the brake system or worn-out brake linings.
Have the brake system checked in an authorized KTM workshop, and do not ride any further.

Danger of accidentsReduced braking due to old brake fluid.
Have the front and rear brake fluid replaced according to the service plan in an authorized KTM workshop.
