Too little engine oil or poor-quality engine oil results in premature wear to the engine.

– Remove the screw cap on the generator cover and fill up with engine oil.

– Mount and tighten screw cap .
Danger
Danger of poisoning Exhaust gases are poisonous and inhaling them may
result in unconsciousness and/or death.
– When running the engine, always make sure there is sufficient ventila-
tion, and do not start or run the engine in an enclosed space without an
effective exhaust extraction system.
– Start the engine and check that it is oil-tight.

9.110Checking the gear oil level

The gear oil level should only be checked when the engine is cold.
– Stand the motorcycle upright on a horizontal surface.

Condition
Engine is cold.
– Remove gear oil level check screw . Stand the motorcycle upright.
– Check the gear oil level.
A small amount of gear oil should flow out.
» If no gear oil flows out:

Add gear oil. x ( p. 86)
– Mount and tighten the gear oil level check screw.
Guideline
Screw, gear oil level check M6 8 Nm (5.9 lbf ft)
