Alkaline batteries lose a signifi cant amount of their capacity as the temperature decreases. Use lithium batteries when operating the GPSMAP 176 in below freezing condi-
tions. Extensive use of screen backlighting will signifi cantly reduce battery life. Different battery brands will vary in useful life.
