Using an External Antenna
Like any radio signal, your GPS signal reception may
expeirence interference from tunnels, freeway “canyons”,
and competing radio signals; some reective metallic
window tinting can also interfere with signal reception. If
you have difculty getting or maintaining a GPS signal lock
in your area, consider using an external antenna.
A magnetic mount external antenna is available from
Uniden’s online store. This antenna has a magnetic base
to mount to the outside of your car without damaging your
car’s nish.
Clean a the area of your
vehicle where you want
to mount the antenna.
Carefully lower the module
until the magnet holds it on
the car. Note: You should
remove the antenna before going through a car wash.
Route the cable from the antenna to the inside of your
vehicle. Make sure the cable does not interfere with safe
driving.
Remove the device from its
support cradle.
Insert the external antenna
cable into the connector
on the back of the hinged
antenna.
Return the device to its
support crade.
