Completing the Upgrade Process after COMMAND/POST Is Installed 37
Upgrading to New Hardware
When upgrading to new hardware, the following tasks must be completed before using
COMMAND/POST:
Reinsert the current hostname
Update path definition(s)
Update access port definition(s)
The following sections describe how to complete each of these tasks.
Reinsert the Current Hostname
The postinstallation script loads COMMAND/POST 3.2.3 data on the COMMAND/POST 4.1
database. Since the data cannot be merged, the tables are truncated before loading. The current
hostname is no longer available in the database; therefore, the current hostname must be
reinserted in the database.
To reinsert the current hostname, perform the following procedure:
1. Log on to your system as NetCmmnd.
2. At the prompt, type
where wsxxx is the current workstation name.
3. To update the configuration, select Admin Update Configuration from the Desktop.
4. Proceed to “Update Path Definition(s)”.
Update Path Definition(s)
Once you have reinserted the hostname of the current workstation, you need to update the
definition for each path associated with the workstation.
To update a path definition, perform the following procedure:
1. From the Desktop, select Customization Path Definition.
2. Select Path Get from DB.
3. Select a pathname and click OK.
4. In the Available Attributes list box, select Host Id.
5. In the Host Id list box, select the current host.
6. Click the Add/Replace button.
