22 COMMAND/POST Upgrade Guide for HP-UX Systems
The minimum space required for each logical volume is documented in Chapter 3 of the
COMMAND/POST Installation Guide for HP-UX Systems.
4. Write the name of the dump device path you will use during installation on the Upgrade
Planning Form on page 7.
5. Write the Sybase system administration password you will use during
post-COMMAND/POST installation on the Upgrade Planning Form on page 7.
6. Apply the required and recommended HP-UX patches on each COMMAND/POST
workstation.
For information about the HP-UX patches that are required and recommended for
COMMAND/POST 4.1, see Chapter 3 in the COMMAND/POST Installation Guide for
HP-UX Systems.
7. Prepare your workstations for COMMAND/POST installation by performing the
instructions in Chapter 3 of the COMMAND/POST Installation Guide for HP-UX
Systems.
8. Install COMMAND/POST 4.1 by performing the instructions in Chapter 4 of the
COMMAND/POST Installation Guide for HP-UX Systems to install COMMAND/POST
4.1.
9. Verify COMMAND/POST installation by performing Step 1 through Step 5 in the section
titled “Verifying the COMMAND/POST Installation” found in Chapter 5 of the
COMMAND/POST Installation Guide for HP-UX Systems.
Note: Do not perform any other instructions in Chapters 5, 6, 7, or 8 of the
COMMAND/POST Installation Guide for HP-UX Systems until you have completed
postinstallation processing.
10. Proceed to “Running the Postinstallation Script” on page 25 or, to customize the upgrade
files if you have requirements to do this, see the reference information about the upgrade
files in “Customizing the Postinstallation Script” on page 23.
Proper partitioning of the hard disk on the COMMAND/POST file server and database
server workstation(s) is critical to the successful installation of COMMAND/POST.
Important
In order to accomplish a successful upgrade, please do not use COMMAND/POST before
the postinstallation process has been completed.
