MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Cleaning and Storage
Storage Tips
CAUTION
Starting the engine during the storage period will disturb the
protective film created by fogging and damage could o ccur. Never
start the engine during the storage period.
Clean the Exterior
Make necessary repairs and then clean the vehicle thoroughly with
mild soap and warm water to remove all dirt and grime. Don’t use
harsh detergents or high pressure washers. Some detergents deteriorate
rubber parts. Use dish soap type cleaners only. High pressure washers
may f orce water p ast seals.
Stabilize the Fuel
Fill the fuel tank. Add Polaris Carbon Clean Fuel Treatment or Polaris
Fuel Stabilizer . Follow the instructions on the c ontaine r for the
rec ommended a mount. (Car bon clea n will also r educe t he possibility of
bacte rial growth i n the fue l system.) Allow 15-20 minute s of ope ration
for t he stabiliz er to dispe rse thr ough the fue l in the ta nk.
Oil and Filter
Warm the engine and change the oil and filter.
Air Filt er / A ir Box / B reath er F ilter
Inspe ct and c lea n or r eplac e the p re- clea ner a nd air f ilter. Clean the a ir
box and d rain the s edime nt tube.
Fluid Levels
Inspect the following fluid levels and change if necessary: fro nt and
rear gearcases; transmission and brake fluid (change every two y ears or
as required if fluid looks dark or contaminated).
Inspect and Lubricate
Inspect all cables and lubricate. Follow lubrication guidelines in the
Maintenance Section of the service or owner’s manual to completely
grease and lubricate the entire vehicle with Polaris Premium All
Season Grease.
