Driving Safely
Towing Loads
WARNING
Towing improperly can alter v ehicle handling and m ay cause loss
of c ontrol or b rake instability, which can r esult in s erious injury or
death. Always follow these precautions when towing:
Never load more than 150 lbs. (68.1 kg) t ongue weight on the
towing bracket.
Do not operate the vehicle f aster t han 10 mph ( 16 km/h) when
towing. See page 45. Towing a trailer increases braking
distance.
Do not tow more than the r ecommended weight for the vehicle.
See the t owing capacity chart below and the s pecifications charts
beginning on page 100.
Attach a trailer to the trailer h itch bracket only. Do not attach a
trailer to any other location or you may lose control of the vehicle.
Never tow a trailer on a grade steeper than 15°.

Belt Life
To extend belt life, use the lowest gear possible when hauling or
towing heavy cargo.
