Vehicle Immersion
CAUTION
If your vehicle becomes im mersed, m ajor engine damage can
result if the vehicle is not thoroughly inspected. Ta ke the vehicle
to y our dealer before starting the engine.
If it’s impossible to t ake your RANGER to a dealer before starting it,
follow the steps outlined below.
1. Move the vehicle to dry land or at the very least, to water below
the footrests.
2. Dry any water present in the air box.
NOTE: Filter r eplacement is required if w ater is present.
3. Thoroughly dry the air pre-cleaner located under the hood.
4. Remove the spark plugs.
5. Turn the engine over several times using the electric start.
6. Dry the spark plugs and reinstall, or replace with new plugs.
7. Attempt to start the engine. If necessary, repeat the drying
procedure.
8. Take the vehicle to your dealer for service as soon as possible,
whether you succeed in starting it or n ot.
NOTE: If water has been ingested into t he PVT follow the pr ocedure
on page 77 for drying.
